What's China's largest electric vehicle charging and changing station like

    Publication time: 2026-07-21

It was a clear blue sky in Beijing, with white clouds against a clear blue background like cotton candy in a child's hand. With blue skies and sunshine, it was clear that spring had arrived, despite the lingering winds that had battered the capital a day earlier.
Blue skies in Beijing are becoming a rarity, and oil prices continue to soar. How to protect the ecological environment while keeping the purse strings? Using new energy vehicles, especially electric vehicles, is undoubtedly a good choice.
Recently, the Gao 'an Tun Charging Power Station, built by the State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company, has been put into operation, aiming to set a good example for future comers in the recycling of energy. To find out what was going on, the China Science Journal reporter drove nearly 40 kilometers from the Northwest Fifth Ring Road to the Gao 'antun Charging and Changing Station.
Charging and changing for the circulation system
The State Grid Beijing Electric Power Company's Gao 'antun power station in the northeastern corner of Chaoyang district is surprisingly desolate and quiet, even though it's just four or five kilometers away on bustling Chaoyang North Road. In the road on both sides of a piece of loess flying in the sky, the reporter found in the Chaoyang circular economy industrial park Gaoantun charging and changing power station.
Chaoyang Circular Economy Industrial Park started construction in 2002. Currently, the projects completed and put into operation include sanitary landfill and supporting facilities, medical waste treatment plant, domestic waste incineration plant, thermal power station, etc. Gao 'antun charging station is one of its key construction projects in recent years. The circular economy industrial park covers an area of about 300 mu. The unique green roof of State Grid stands out in the empty park. Although it is the weekend, some workers are still busy inside and outside the charging and changing station.
Zhou Tianyi, an installation worker in his early 20s, gave reporters an enthusiastic tour of the station's facilities.
Gao 'antun Charging Station covers an area of about 8,200 square meters and is built in a warehousing style, giving people the first impression of being "big". If you look up, you can see the roof, which is about the same height as a three or four story building. As the largest EV charging station in China, Gao 'antun Charging Station mainly uses waste incineration for power generation and solar power generation as power supply, which is also one of the reasons why the charging station is built in the circular economy industrial park. In terms of design, the charging and changing station, together with the garbage power plant and the electric sanitation vehicle in the industrial park, forms a circulation system, which is another bright spot. First, urban garbage will be collected by charging electric sanitation vehicles, which will be converted into electric energy by garbage power plants, and then provided to electric sanitation vehicles by charging and changing stations, which can reduce carbon emissions by about 9,706 tons per year.
Zhou Tianyi told the China Science and Technology Journal that 1,280 solar cells installed on the roof of the power station generate an annual average of 267,200 kilowatt-hours of electricity, equivalent to 400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. At the same time, the off-peak power of the grid will be used as an emergency power source every night. The energy storage system has a capacity of about 4,000 kilowatts.
